Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

N-400 Form regarding Residence

I have lived in Saipan for quite a while and just moved to California and on the form it says to list the countries that you have traveled outside of the US. My question is do i write down Saipan on the form for countries outside of the US (even though Saipan is a territory of the US)? And will this affect my continual residency? I have asked numerous people on this matter and they have given me different answers.

You should go ahead and write it. More is always better than less. Thus, no one can accuse you of intentionally omitting information.

You must indicate all of your trips outside the US. Saipan, as a territory of the US, is not within the US in the sense of the 50 states. Upon receipt of your application the INS officer will review and analyze the nature, purpose, and duration of each trip to determine whether you meet the required physical presence and continuity requirements.
