A person has to be eligible for adjustment of status in order to file the I-485. For employment-based adjustment, with a narrow exception, the law requires an applicant to be in a valid non-immigrant status.
Your can't "wait for 245i" unless you have been "grandfathered" under old immigration law.
For a case-specific legal advice you shall consult an immigration lawyer in private.

If you're qualified under 245 (i) or 245 (k), you may file for I-485. We suggest you to consult with an immigration attorney.
