Legal Question in Insurance Law in California

I was in a car accident earlier this year. I thought I was covered until I called my insurance company to report the accident and that's when I found out they cancelled me for not paying my premium. I never received a cancellation notice, but they swear they sent it to me.

Anyhow, the insurance company of the other driver said that I am at fault (no surprise there) even though I have plenty of evidence to show otherwise. They are threatening me with having my license revoked. They also said that uninsured drivers are always at fault according to CA law. Is this true or is this just some high pressure tactic to get me to cave in and pay them the money? Also, what if they sue me and get a judgment in their favor, is it enforceable, or is it just a paper judgment with no real means of enforcement?

It is not true that uninsured drivers are always at fault. And any judgment the insurer (acting through the other driver) obtains against you will be enforceable just as any other judgment would be.
