Legal Question in Intellectual Property in California
Copyright ownership of email?
I believe the sender of email owns the copyright in and to it, however, to what extent can one use, republish, or quote from someone else's non-confidential, non-privileged, and not covered by any non-disclosure or similar agreement email? This is routine business email communications and I wish to let others know of its contents.

Re: Copyright ownership of email?
Well, as you said, the emails are copyrighted by their senders. As in all such situations one must weigh the likelihood, if any, that the sender will discover your infringement, that they will sue, and that they have the resources to mount a case; and the applicability of defenses such as consent and fair use.
