Legal Question in Investment Law in California
Lost Investment
I had a verbal agreement for a person to take money I gave him (cashiers checks) and invest it through his company; I was to get a return at specific intervals and could get my initial investment back at any time. I never received any money and was told he gave it to another party to invest (which was never agreed upon) and that person embezzled all of the money. My question is do I have a legal standing to get my money back if so is there a time limitations?

Re: Lost Investment
Sounds like you were solicited to buy securities and then defrauded, but a lawyer or investigator would need a lot more facts. The matter would likely be governed by Federal law as well as the laws of the state where you were when the "investment" discussion took place. I suggest you see a lawyer who does investment or securities fraud as a regular part of his or her work, or perhaps contact a district attorney or securities regulator in your state of residence.
