Legal Question in Employment Law in California

As a 6 year vet for a non profit I am scared my employer will terminate me. I have done nothing wrong but due to the economic climate can my employer terminate me and state it is due to the economy? There is only 10 employees left but I have been told I will go back to doing less work. Can they terminate me for that?
