Legal Question in Employment Law in California

application questions re: crimes

On employment applications, what am I legally obligated to disclose in response to questions that inquire about crimes more severe than traffic violations? I thought only felonies had to be disclosed....some clarity, please. thanks.

Employers are free to ask about any convictions. If you have some, consider getting them expunged so that you can say 'no' to conviction questions. You can't expunge felonies that had prison time ordered, or many crimes of domestic or sexual violence. Feel free to contact me if serious about doing so.
