Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Background check after hire

I was offered a position with a new company and told to give my two week notice. After a week at the company a background check was preformed where a misdemeanor came up. I was unaware of this misdemeanor and feel that they should have done this background check before I quit my job. Now I have no job and an out of luck. Do I have any recourse?

Re: Background check after hire

Maybe. It will depend on the facts, such as what you can 'prove' about the discussions and offer, your employment history, etc. Contact me with the details if interested in discussing.

Re: Background check after hire

It depends on whether your job was contingent on nothing derogatory coming back on the background check.
