Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Bad reference

I made 2 written complaints about a person who had started her harassment with a boob job comment. Result - lay off in June. Since then I am having a VERY VERY hard time locating work or getting replies to my resume. I've seen those reference check services - if I get a ''bad'' reference from this manager of mine and document it - it is it admissable in court as evidence?
