Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Breach of Employee Confidentiality

Hello! I recently found out from a co-worker that a representative of my HR staff was discussing with my supervisor (in the presence of my co-worker) a matter of my FMLA status and corrective action information. My co-worker (who is not a member of HR but rather same title/position as me) came to me to inform me that this was discussed in her presence. I'm very upset about this. What are my rights?

Thanks!

Your right to privacy may have been violated, but how have you been harmed? While you may discreetly express your displeasure about personnel matters being discussed in front of an employee who has no reason to overhear it, making a bigger deal out of it may cause bigger problems down the road.

If this is very important to you, think very carefully how your wish to approach the issue.
