Legal Question in Employment Law in California
do i have a case?
I have been harassed both physically and verbally at a large real estate firm as being a computer administrator(independant contract). I finally had enough abuse recently and tried to leave the building when the owner restrained me physically while i was still under contract. Then the owner canceled my contract afterwards. I lost all my clients due to the owner of that firm and my future contract with that firm. There are also multiple cases of female harrasment that i have witnessed. Do i have a case, and can i help the women that are abused and not coming forward?

1. If you were physically injured, your claims might have economic value. Otherwise you would be pursuing the matter primarily on 'principle' to make a point to the company. It may be possible to settle your potential claims and causes of action; contact me if interested in discussing facts, value and fees.
2. If any women have been sexually harassed or subjected to hostile environment, they have claims to make; have them contact me if they are interested in doing so. You could be a witness for them, but generally wouldn't have a claim of your own.

California law prohibits unlawful harassment against independent contractors. Unlawful harassment involves coinduct that is based upon the protected status of the individual. If the harassment is based upon age, race, sex, national origin, disability status, etc, you may have a claim. The damages that flow from the harassment, including your economic losses, may be recoverable. Contact me if you would like a full analysis of your potential claims.
