Change of Hours

After working for a company for 8 years and having the same hours, I have been informed that as of a week from today my hours will change. Can this be done without prior discussion or can they just demand it.

You're an 'at will' employee, and the company determines your duties and hours. Your remedy is to seek new employment if you're not happy there. Try to negotiate and resolve the issue.
