Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Change in Original Terms of Employment.
I've been in a home office based sales position for 3+ years and recently been asked to go into an office. The commute is 1+ hours. In addition, in my offer letter, it expressly states that I will be working from home.
What recourse do I have?
Company is based in FL and I'm in CA.

Recourse? Find a new job or follow the orders at this one. If you quit without 'substantial good cause', you will be denied unemployment benefits. The employer is entitled to set and change hours, duties, titles, compensation, benefits, leaves, vacations, holidays, policies, rules, etc. just not retroactively. Not only are there no laws against 'unfair treatment' or poor management, but in general, unless an employee is civil service, in a union, or has a written employment contract, they are an 'at will' employee that can be disciplined or fired any time for any reason, with or without cause, explanation or notice. The employee's goal should be to keep the employer happy and make the company money. Thats how they pay your wages.
