Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I am a co-manager from an international retail brand. I have worked for the company for over two years. Upon submitting my two week notice, my supervisor failed to complete my paperwork on time and in turn I was not offered cobra. My benefits have expired and I have been without coverage for 15 days without even knowing it. I called the company today to see why I have not received a cobra package and they informed me that my termination paperwork was not processed on time by my supervisor and that I have been uninsured since June 1st. I am a cancer patient and am concerned by the fact that if anything were to happen to me over the past 15 days I would have been uninsured with no notice. I need to know if legally there is anything I can do about this situation. Thank you for your help.

Immediately demand in writing that the company retroactively correct the problem that was of their making. If they don't, they become liable themselves to pay your medical bills that insurance would have covered. If you can't immediately get this sorted out yourself, you might consider paying an attorney to help you. He could then take legal action for you as needed.
