Do I need to compensated differently on a weekend and holiday business trip?

If you are salaried exempt, no; you work as many hours as ordered. If you are hourly, then you are due OT for over 8 or over 40, per the Labor Code rules for all work time. If refused pay and you can't resolve it with the employer, you could file a claim with the Labor Commissioner. If retaliated against for filing or making your demand in good faith, that would be illegal and subject them to a lawsuit. If you need legal help, feel free to contact me.
