Legal Question in Employment Law in California
confidential information agreement
I am in California and signed a confidential information agreement with my company, excluding me from basically going to work for a competitor for one year after I quit my current job, is that legal?

Re: confidential information agreement
Generally speaking, agreements that prevent an employee from engaging in their buisness or profession, in California, are void.
Re: confidential information agreement
Its legal. But they are often held invalid if they are over broad in time or geography or otherwise.
Re: confidential information agreement
California law: Confidentiality agreements are generally valid; noncompetes generally aren't. To get proper advice, you need to retain an attorney to review the agreement and advise you accordingly.
Re: confidential information agreement
NO agreement can be enforced in CA that would prevent you from all employment. Some limitations could be enforced if there is a valid agreement, but you need to consult with an employment attorney on the specifics of your agreement and their demands.
