Are Covenants not to compete legal?

Yes, covenants not to compete are legal, when properly drafted. To determine how to properly draft or whether you are subject to a properly drafted covenant, contact a local lawyer for a consultation or ask your County Bar Association for a referral.

They aren't illegal, they just are seldom enforceable in CA. That doesn't mean the company won't sue you as a deterrent to other employees. If you want to discuss having counsel set them straight, or defend you if sued, contact me.

Thet are legal but may not be enforceable in CA because of case law.
