Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Credit owned an employer

I was recently terminated from my job because I was accused of causing loss within the company on returns. The company has an open return policy so I don't understand how I was in the wrong. They claim that I owe them around $600 for losses that occured. Do I have to pay that or should I refuse. I refused to sign a sheet that agreed on the amount of loss because I don't understand how I stole any money from the company. What should I do?

Re: Credit owned an employer

Unless you stole things from the company, or participated in some kind of fraud, you are normally not responsible for paying any losses. If you did those things, then they could recover from you. You should consult a local attorney for help in this, to prevent more trouble.
