Legal Question in Employment Law in California
i got dismissed from work and told california at will was the reson. now my former employer is fighting it & saying i was dismissed for unexcused absences. i was never verbally warned nor written up for missing work, infact it wasn't even discussed. the real reason is my boss is in a lawsuit with her former boss for proprietary... she started the same type of company and took the client list. i know that she did this because after the first few weeks i was there it was apparent the list i was working off came from the prior year it had dates for the events...
anyhow, since i wasn't written up will i get my unemployment?

If you are denied EDD benefits, you can file an appeal, go to the hearing, present your evidence and arguments, and try to convince the judge there was no misconduct or gross negligence. Those are the reasons for denial, other than if you had quit. You and most CA employees are "at will" and can be fired any time for any reason, with no warning or notice required.
The dispute between your company and another is irrelevant to your case.
