Docked Time After Punching In For Time It Takes To Get To Work Area
My employer is docking 6 minutes off of every hourly employee for time it takes to get from the time clock to an individuals workstation. Is this legal?

No the employer's action is not legal. You and your co-workers may be entitled to return of docked pay. Contact me to discuss how to proceed.

It is not legal for your employer to deduct for "walking time," nor to require you to clock in early to compensate for your walking time. You and your fellow employees may have an actionable complaint against your employer. Dependent upon the size of the company and the number of employees, you may choose to proceed indivdually with the DLSE or collectively. Please contact me if you have any questions as to how to proceed.

Not legal to dock. You have an unpaid wage claim to pursue with the Labor Commissioner. If several or more people join you, it would be practical to hire counsel jointly. If you win you can collect your attorney fees. Contact me if interested.
