Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I've been employed since Nov, 6th 2009 and I have only worked maybe maybe two months out of all that time is that legal ? I keep calling my boss all the time and all he tells me is " I'll give you a call". Now apparently after a little digging the company was not producing enough money and I was told to "Take a FEW days off". Now its been a month and still nothing same old story. Is this Legal please do tell.

Legal? Of course. You should have filed for unemployment long ago, based upon your facts, and should have looked for a new job that actually put you to work.
