Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I am an employee of Kaiser & I just received notice that I have been overpaid for the last 4 years as a RN in the amount of $30,000.00??? Their excuse is that i should have looked at my union book to the pay scale of my hourly wage and kept on top of it-- They also say that they want it paid back in large amounts which will put me in financial hardship. What rights do I have to have this overpayment paid back on my terms? I strongly feel that this is their accounting error which should have been caught along time ago also I have paid federal & state taxes on the amounts I was paid for those 4 years of overpayments. So what should I do ? thank you very much for your advice please mail it to me.
