Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Employee gives written 2 wk notice then 2 days later calls in sick and a note is faxed from there Doctor stating they are to be off work until further notice for anxiety and depression. Do I hold there job. Or is there 2 wk notice the end of there employment?

Upon receiving notice of 'quit', the employee may be immediately terminated. That's what 'at will' employment means.
