if my employer has proof that someone was stealing but not info as to who, can they eliminate a group of all suspected individuals involved

Yup. They can fire you for wearing loafers instead of lace up shoes too. Absent civil service or a union contract with termination protections, an employer can fire you any time for anything except discrimination against a protected classification, such as race or gender, or retaliation against protected conduct, such as union organizing or whistle blowing.

Of course. In general, unless an employee is civil service, in a union, or has a written employment contract, they are an 'at will' employee that can be disciplined or terminated any time for any reason, with or without �cause�, explanation or notice. With suspicion of crime they have actual 'cause'.
