Legal Question in Employment Law in California

My employer recently sent a memo out that they would not being giving sick payto any all employees. My time bank of sick leave was wiped out (about 140 hours). I have a contract that states that I am entitled to 5 paid sick days per year. Can my employer do that? I work for a medical office as a health care provider and have an extensive contract outlaying all rights and privileges. Most of the employees with this company do not. Is this legal? Do I have dioffernet rights than the other at-will employees. No changes have been made to my work contract since I signed it 5 years ago. thanks

Not retroactively. If your days were vested, then you are entitled to use them. The policy can be changed going forward though, unless you really have a written employment contract that says otherwise, which would be breached by them doing this. If you want to get legal help in trying to resolve this, feel free to contact me.
