Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Employer Unfair treatment
I am a sales representative and have worked for the same company for 17 years. I recently had a client taken away from me for no good reason. My company also broke a contract with this client by doing so. This type of thing has happened before but this was the last straw for me. Now my pay has dropped to where I cannot survive on the amount. I feel like they are trying to starve me out so that I quit. They say no but their actions speak differently. I am very stressed out over this and am having some medical issues I never had before. Need to know if I have a case against them on this matter?
Thank you

Re: Employer Unfair treatment
You've said nothing that takes you out of the category of 'at will' employment, where you can be fire without cause or forced to leave. Sorry, but 'unfair treatment' as you described is not illegal, nor grounds for legal action without more. You could and should find a new job, then try to negotiate a separation package.
Re: Employer Unfair treatment
This will depend on the terms of your employment, specifically whether and to what extent you are compensated on a commission basis. If your employer took this account from you intentionally to avoid paying the commission to you, then you may have a case. However, this would not necessarily be easy to prove.
