Legal Question in Employment Law in California

my employers have decided that under certain circumstances, a store (whithin the company) can only have a 3 person crew and my store falls whithin those circumstances, however I recently found out that another store with identical circumstances was allowed to keep all 4 people. After asking, I was told its because they are trending up in their sales. So I run some numbers and figured out that if I had been allowed to keep all my staff, my store would have also been able to trend up in sales.

Do I have a case?

A case for what? The employer is entitled to set and change hours, duties, titles, compensation, benefits, leaves, vacations, holidays, policies, rules, etc. just not retroactively. In general, unless an employee is civil service, in a union, or has a written employment contract, they are an 'at will' employee that can be disciplined or fired any time for any reason, with or without cause or explanation. The employee's goal should be to keep the employer happy.
