Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Employment Issue, I was promised a position

Hi, I worked for an internet company as a temporary employee performing HR Generalist Duties. This position was filled with crises and disasters that I worked at diligently to clean up. During this time I worked with the recruiter of the internet firm where I was promised a full time perm position in HR if I stuck it out with them. I did and interviewed and was offered a position that was a promotion in my HR career and a whole new area to learn. The job was offered, I accepted. The next day the offer was recinded through the temp agency I worked for and was told it was because a manager they were having difficulty with at my internet firm caused the offer to be recinded with no explanation. I had no reason, nor gave them one, to do this and I would like to explore sending them a 30 day reponse letter stating what they did and what remedy they will offer for this inconvenience, loss of wages, I had to take a lower paying position to stay afloat, and maybe having my character defamed my this manager who caused me to lose out on this position. I had contact with this manager only twice. Thank you.
