Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Am I entitled to be paid for this time
My emplyer required and requested that we pick-up our tills, count and verify them with the till sheet, prepare daily paperwork, fill-out loan slip, report to the front of the store, pick-up loan, count and verify loan, then start our 8hr shift. After comlpeting our shift we are required to count down our tills,fill-out daily till sheet, organize envelopes ie: checks, charge slips.food stamps,WIC etc., call someone to veriy our money, turn money and envelope over to that person and return the till with new till sheet to the office. I am paid hourly. I have recently left this job and want to know if I am entitled to payment for this time. I was afraid to cause trouble while employed there.

According to your statement, you may be entitled to wages or overtime wages for the work that was done prior to and after clocking in for an 8 hour shift. You should contact your local office of the Labor Board, and they will provide you information on how to file a claim.
Re: Am I entitled to be paid for this time
if you have not been paid on services rendered, even absent a contract, and you provided your employer valuable services in which it was unjustly enriched at your expense, you absolutely have a cause of action for unjust enrichment if not breach of contract. email our law firm today with more specific details and we will be more than happy to further assist you or represent u in this matter.
Re: Am I entitled to be paid for this time
You are probably entitled to be paid for all that time, computed now at overtime since it is over 8 hr. You, and others there should file your claim with the Labor Commissioner. If you are in SoCal and are interested in hiring counsel to represent you in the hearings and trial, contact me to discuss.
