Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Expense Reimbursement

I work as a real estate appraiser. As part of the job, I am required to take photographs of properties. Is my employer required to pay for my camera or reimburse me for its cost? Does the answer depend on if it is used only for work purposes, or partly for personal purposes? (On a quasi-related note, I know that CA law requires employers to pay for an employee's office car parking costs if that employee must drive as part of his/her occupation--which is the case for my company. I just wonder if the camera reimbursement issue is an analogous situation.)

Thank you.

Re: Expense Reimbursement

Technically, employers are required to provide all job tools. So, yes, they should work out some payment with you if it is a work tool.
