Legal Question in Employment Law in California

This is a follow up question to one I asked earlier. The company I work for has recently started requiring manufacturing associates to lift and pack 80 lb. and 83 lb. medical instruments. This process is done with the aid of a hydrolic lift to lift the large cardboard boxes to the height of the cart the instrument is on and 2 people, one on each end, lift it over about a ft. to place it in the box. I have obtained a copy of the job description from HR for the people that are doing this task and it says, and I quote "In addition, the employee is required to push and/or pull 30 lbs. unaided and lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance." Can this employeer make these employees lift these instruments when they are over the 50 lb. limit? Thanks You for your time~
