Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Full time to Part time

I applied for and hired to a position that was (3) 12 hr. days. The pay rate was 11/2 after 8 hrs. which basically worked out to Full time pay for me. Now my Manager cut my hrs. to (3) 10 hr. days and is changing my Full time status to Part time status. This cuts me by $400 ea. month in pay not counting that I no longer am eleigible FT benefits only PT time ones. Can they do that?

Can they? Yes, they did, didn't they?

The employer is entitled to determine and change duties, hours, pay, etc. If you don't like it, you can quit. Since your pay is dramatically cut, you might still be able to collect unemployment benefits as a 'justified quit'.
