Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Hello

Can a company enforce a brand new dress code after the employees have been hired for a year with a different dress code at the time and enforce the employees to go out and buy the new uniform (khaki pants). This company provided only the shirt but not the pants for the complete uniform. They gave two weeks for employees to buy the rest of the uniform. Is this legal? Please help
