Legal Question in Employment Law in California
HP bought EDS last year and now wants to make \'salary\' adjustments DOWN for EDS employees regardless of years of experience and/or service. Managment claims this is to place EDS salaries on a PAR with HP salaries, but does not disclose what the HP salary ranges are. Is this legal?

Of course. Unless you have a union contract, or individual written employment agreement, you are 'at will' and subject to termination, and change of duties, pay, schedule, etc. at the employers discretion. Try to negotiate resolution of your complaints, but these kind of decisions are made only after internal mgmt discussion about the law, rules, and risks of doing so.
