Legal Question in Employment Law in California
My husband and I work for the same company, at two seperate locations. In September of last year, we were both told that we were going to be given a promotion. Immediately, they spoke with my husband and had him train for the job. He recieved his raise that week. I was told to get in touch with the owner, to which he never replied, in spite of my best efforts and those of management and hr for the company, as well as myself. Regardless, they trained me to do the job. I am now doing an upper level job and getting paid entry level wages, and have not been able to get ahold of the owner to resolve this, in spite of having meetings with the HR dept on more than one occasion. Is there legally anything i can do about this?

If you could prove somehow that this was illegal gender discrimination and unequal pay violation, you would have a claim. Proof is more than your speculation about the ''motive" for the disparity. Now if the conduct was illegal under the above definitions, feel free to contact me for the legal help youll need.
Without illegal discrimination, this is merely 'unfair' treatment that is not actionable as a legal claim.
