Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I was laid off by my most recent employer. I wasn't given a reason. The letter I received didn't state a reason why I was let go. Furthermore, it thanked me for my time and effort. I was never written up or told I did anything wrong. However, my employer told the unemployment department I was fired for doing something wrong. I emailed my boss asking her what I had done wrong because it was all news to me. The response was she wasnt going to go into detail about it. What can I do about my employer making false claims to unemployment.

What can I do?

Nothing, other than submit a reply to EDD. If EDD denies you benefits, appeal it and try to introduce the letter in your defense.

I agree with Mr. Nelson. There is nothing that you can do to change the position of your employer. You must tackle the issue before the EDD in case your benefits are denied.
