Legal Question in Employment Law in California

i left work early yesterday because computers were not working. i told assistant manager i was leaving because manager was not in. Today i went in and I was sent home. I need computer to work and make money. I'm a debt collector. The computers where not fixed until 1 p.m. I start work at 8 a.m. I told asst. Manager to call when computers started working. I didnt go back to office I get off at 4.

In general, unless an employee is civil service, in a union, or has a written employment contract, they are an 'at will' employee that can be disciplined or fired any time for any reason, with or without �cause�, explanation or notice. 'Cause' such as job abandonment by leaving without approval speaks for itself as grounds for termination. The employee's goal should be to keep the employer happy and make the company money. That�s how they pay your wages.
