Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Is it legal for the pastor of a church to require the teachers of the school associated with the church to tithe to his church. It has even been implied that it could cost them their job if they do not.

Yes. Churches are exempt from the Civil Rights discrimination laws, and can require religious observance as part of employment requirements.
