Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Life Threatened

I have worked part time for this company for almost four years. I am always the model employee conserning work and never being late and only called in sick one year ago. A gal I was dating, ex-boyfriend threaten to kill me by telephone an hour before I was to go to work. He had been stalking us for three months. I was pretty shook up and was concerned he might even be capable of coming to my work place and following through with his threat. I called my boss and told him what had happened and that I was not capable of coming in that day and was going to file a police report and get a restraining order. This guy belonged to a gang and I just wasn't sure what he was capable of as he used to beat my girl friend.

When I got back to work the next day he took me into his office and told me I was to be punished for that and for the next six months I lost one day of work. Is this legal?

Re: Life Threatened

"Legal"? Sure. Unfair? Sure. However, unfair is not grounds for a lawsuit. Your options are to stay or quit. I suggest you find a more fair company to work for.
