It is not clear from your post why you believe the mistreatment is based on your pregnancy, nor is it clear what the mistreatment is. Also, it is important to know (1) whether the same people who hired are now trying to fire you and (2) whether they knew you were pregnant when they hired you. If the same people who hired you are trying to fire you, and they knew you were pregnant when they hired you, then it would not make sense that they are trying to fire you because of your pregnancy. You should speak to a lawyer right away. Please feel free to call our office at (213) 536-4236.
I agree whats said but another question is why they want to fire you. If it is motivated because of your pregnancy that is a violation of the law. The labor code in CA and Dept of Fair Employment & Housing (DFEH) does not permit disability discrimination which includes pregnancy. If the employer fires you and it is motivated by your pregnancy status (whihc you have the burden of proving it has violated the law. But if your employer can prove that any ultimate termination was not motivated by the pregnancy such as economics/hard times or poor performance then the termination could be up held as valid. You should consult an attorney. I hope this helps. Bob Worth (818) 222-2433
If they knew you were pregnant and hired you anyway without discrimination when they could have hidden it easily, how do you intend to prove they are now discriminating? It would require direct proof through statements or documents.
