Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Multiple Employers

I work for multiple companies under the direction of a single individual. I am expected to switch between these companies at a moments notice. It seems like I'm really working for one company but I'm paid by different ones. Is this legal?

It depends -- are you being paid overtime -- by combining both jobs? Are you being paid split-time wages? It sounds like he might be using this to evade labor laws and overtime pay requirements. . . . feel free to contact off-line

As long as each pays you appropriately for your time, you have no complaint. If you don't work over 8 total, no OT is due to complicate the issue. If over 8, then someone has to pay it.
