Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Non payment for services rendered

I am a sole proprietor working in the entertainment industry. I have

been owed money from a compnay for over 7 months. I have received

partial payment, and just want to collect what is owed to me. I have

heard that there is a law in CA that states if payment has not been

received within a certain time period, a person can sue a company for

their day rate for every day not paid. I want to see if this law is ifact or

fiction so I have some leverage in dealing with these former clients.

Thank you.

Re: Non payment for services rendered

You can bring a claim with the Labor Commissioner for the unpaid wages, plus 30-days pay as penalty, plus interest. If you hire an attorney and win the case, attorneys fees are also awardable. If the amount in question is high enough to justify hiring an attorney, please contact me if interested in discussing.
