Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I was offered a job with Lockheed Martin to work as a United States Government contractor for the US Army in Germany in the beginning of June. I signed and returned my offer letter, signed and returned the paperwork to get me on the payroll, signed and returned the proprietary agreements and tons of other paperwork. I was supposed to start work on July 20, so I put in my notice for my previous job and listed my end date as July 17. As of today they have not sent me to Germany. \n\nI received an email today that stated: \"We were informed by the customer (Army) that your application was rejected because you did not have the sufficient years of experience directly related to Information Assurance (IA). If you have any questions, please contact me.\"\n\nI quit my job because I was under the impression that I had this job. I have been filling out paperwork and talking with HR and the recruiter almost daily. Now I am unemployed. Is there anything I can do about this?

Try to get your old job back. Hope you didn\'t burn any bridges. While you could bring legal action, their rejection letter shows you their defense you will have to overcome. Admittedly, your stated facts seem to indicate there was a contract with you. There may be some fine print in there saying \"subject to background check, etc.\" See if you can find a local attorney that you can afford, consult and listen to his opinion of the documents.
