overtime laws regarding the veterinary profession

we are confused regarding where does veterinary medicine stand in regards to,employees that are exempt/non exempt. i'm a registered technician. since i went to school/stateboard am i then in the same category as a nurse? no written alternative wk week sched. was ever done. are we entitled to overtime after 8 hrs. a day?

You should be entitled to OT. You could file suit, or file a claim with the Labor Commissioner. If they agree, they will take the case. If the amounts owed are substantial enough, you could hire an attorney to represent you in the hearings and trial if necessary. If you win you would get interest, penalties and attorney fees.

Also, if you are retaliated against in any way for demanding pay or filing, that is illegal and grounds for a civil lawsuit.
