Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Overtime and travel time

Hello there,

I currently for a tween retailer in California. I was hired in late June of 2008. When I was brought on I was told that I would be trained for two weeks and then I would be transferred to the store I was hired for. (Much closer to my home). I spent close to an hour an a half driving one way for four months while working at this store. They kept dragging it out, stating that ''your going soon''. I was never paid for mileage, but was reimbursted for parking. $10.00 a day, (other employees had annual parking passes). I was clearly a borrowed manager. Can I or should I be reimbursted for mileage?

Question number 2:

I worked an overnight floorset a few weeks ago. They had me scheduled 9pm-12am, and then 12am-7:30am, the following day. I worked roughly 10 hours sraight, BUT because of the hours blocked into two seperate days, I was never paid overtime. Same goes for all of my employees who worked with me. Are we entitled to over time?

Please get back to me.

If you think you are owed unpaid compensation, file a claim with the Labor Commissioner and see if they agree to to your claim.
