can i get paid for a job that a home owner bailed on for a project after i did three days of labor and spend more then 500 dollars out of my pocket?

If the total job was for over $500, only a licensed contractor can bring legal action to collect. A handyman commits a crime if bidding or doing a job for more than $500.
