Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Not getting paid by start-up

I am working for a start-up.

I agreed to work on the understanding that I will get paid fully when they get their next round of funding. Next round of funding has been completed but now they refure to pay.

What are my options ?

bring a compensation claim through the Labor Commissioner. Risk: no longer a 'team player'. How long are you willing to work for free and run the risk they'll close without you ever being paid. Contact me if you need legal help in this.

Re: Not getting paid by start-up

Your claim is going to be based on the employers failure to pay wages that you have earned. This will involve a DLSE complaint that you need to file with the Department of Labor in your area. Depending on your agreement you may also be able to recover interest and penalties in addition to your base claim.

Contact an attorney in your area to assist you with the process.
