Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I was not paid my vacation pay within 72 hours when I was laid off. I was paid for 6 hours of vacation pay one month later. My former employer refuses to pay me the 40 hours of vacation pay that I am owed. What should I do?

File a complaint with the Labor Commission's Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (commonly known as the Labor Board) and ask for waiting time penalties on top of your vacation pay. You can find their website at http://www.dir.ca.gov/DLSE/ .
