Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I have been paid $600.00 a week for approx. 47 hours of work. it has never been clearly defined as to if i'm salary or hourly. what determines same in lack of any clarification?

You should discuss and try to resolve the issue with your employer. They are obligated to pay you correctly for whatever category you are. If that fails, and IF you believe you have not been paid compensation and benefits in full, you could file a claim with the Labor Commissioner.
