Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I parked my car in my work parking lot that is across the street from my actual work building. There is no sign up saying they are not responsible for any damages or theft. Recently my car was broken into in my company's parking lot and about $2000 worth of merch. was stolen. This is not the first time cars have been broken into in this parking lot. The gates do not lock, there is no form of security in the parking lot, Is my company liable for this?
